ancestors used low costed letters to communicate between them.Today we
use emails etc. in the place of these letters.Although these changes
have benefitted us a lot,but muslims are those who practice Islam in
every field of their life.And this is a accepted reality that every
new stuff has its pro and cons in the islamic aspect.Be it the new
mobiles,internet etc. they can be used both rightly or against islam
too.
ISLAMIC RULING ON ONLINE TEXT CHAT:
This is the most common type of chat used online.People enter 'Rooms'
to chat with others.According to the Fatwas issued on this matter,It
is Haraam to chat with a 'non mehram' opposite sex on any type of this
online chat.The Chat Rooms are virtual types of rooms that exist on
the net,but they come under the same definition as of the real rooms
i.e they are both closed places away from others.So chatting inside
these virtual rooms is same as sitting inside a real room an
talking.The prohibition of two opposite sexes to stay alone in a room
or house has been repoted from the Ahadees.That means if a boy(s)
chats with other girl(s) in a open or private chat room it is just
like the accomodation of two lone sexes inside a real room.As the
hadith states the third person with them is the Shaitan.So the chat
with opposite sex non-mehram is a great sin and is haraam,even if the
topic between them is Islamic,clean and non sexual.Haraam is haraam a
it cant be reconstructed into halal by these lame exuses.
BUT,
A chat between same sexes or 'meharam opposite sexes' (mother and
son,father and daughter,brother and sister etc.) only on Islamic or
non sexual clean topics such as business,life,technology,current
affairs,arts etc. is jaiz and halal.If the topics and the
conversations between them are un-islamic,sexual and benefit less then
the chat between them is again na-jaiz and prohibited.Although there
are numerous topics to be discussed upon,but still you will find 80%
of the chat rooms full of those mindless users who don't chat about
other than sex and ridiculous things.So,staying away from these pots
is better than stucking your foot and falling in the hands of
Shaitan.And remember these rulings are a matter of delight for the
believers and true muslims.Those who hate to follow them really need
some serious thinking to strengthn their faith.
